30 days since the lock down was announced, but the last couple of days I've noticed a lot more cars on the road. I think people are getting bored and starting to risks now.
Boris Johnson is still nowhere to be seen and I've given up on taking any notice of the news or daily briefings. They seem to keep skewing the figures for PPE, testing, deaths, deaths in hospital only, deaths in care homes, infected etc etc. You really have to listen carefully to the wording that they are using. The careful choice of these words make's it much easier for them to change the goalposts at a later date.
For instance today Dominic Raab keeps referring to the fact that capacity for tests is now 40,000. The Government made it very clear when the 100,000 target was announced that it was based on tests performed, not capacity.
The official death toll stands at 18,100. However the Financial Times analysis of the latest data from the Office for National Statistics claims that pandemic has already caused as many as 41,000 deaths in the UK. I'm more inclined to believe the higher figure myself.
However they did finally get around to telling people that life won't suddenly go back to normal once the lock down ends and said that there will be some form of social distancing in place for at least the rest of the year. So the rescheduled Bearded Theory festival in September is looking more and more unlikely.
I'm still quite enjoying the lock down personally. As most staff were furloughed on Monday I am now expected to go into the office two days a week and work from home the rest of the time. WFH is pretty tedious, it just involves me checking my e-mails every 20 minutes. Today I had to respond to TWO e-mails. Days in the office are much busier. My boss is WFH so she just sends me stuff to print and attach to files all day. On Monday the office was FREEZING and it didn't warm up all day as there were only two of us in there. Hoping it'll be a bit warmer tomorrow.
One of my friend's (who is a nurse) has tested positive for Covid-19. He's self-isolating at home, so he's not too ill with it at the moment, hoping he makes a full recovery. A few 'Twitter friends' lost their parents this week. One of them was perfectly fit and healthy and just 58 years old. Scary stuff.
I've been keeping myself busy doing a thirty day logo challenge. It's day 12 today and I'm still enjoying it but it is tricky trying to fit it in every day. I'm also doing a 'design a letter a day' challenge and post a black and white shot of your life every day challenge. It's exhausting all this creativity.
I had a nice bike ride this evening, but my god there were a lot of midges, many of which ended up in my mouth. I may no longer be vegetarian.
