Lockdown - Day 15 (Tuesday April 7th)

I thought I'd be writing this more and more frequently by now but I'm still relatively busy with work in the day. Then I make sure that I get my one hour daily exercise, today it was a 4 mile walk up to the woods in Wenvoe, and then by the time I've scrolled through Twitter, made dinner and done the dishes it's 8.00pm and I just want to relax in front of the TV. I've still got the last episode of Liar to watch, so I'm heading downstairs for that shortly.

This Coronavirus Lockdown life feels quite normal now. The only time I really notice it is when I fancy something for lunch but can't just pop over to Lidl. I'm trying to only go shopping once a week to minimise risk. I've had a few bike rides this week as the weather has got nicer. I even stumbled across a cul-de-sac party on Saturday at the bottom of my estate. All of the neighbours were sitting at the ends of their drives on garden furniture drinking wine and beer and having a chat. All safely at least 3 metres from each other. I felt like a gatecrasher and they looked a bit nervous as my hi-vis does make me look like the police.

The internet is still proving very useful as artists, comedians, actors etc keep thinking of inventive ways to entertain us. On Friday I watched my third B.C. CAMPLIGHT gig. On Saturday night I took part in an online indie music quiz hosted by a DJ from Bath. I did terribly but it was really good fun. On Sunday I had a 2.5 hour drunken 'house party' chat with two friends. So I've never had the chance to get bored or do all of the chores that I have on my lock down list. Will I ever get round to glossing the skirting boards? All I managed to do this week was a bit of weeding. I also did a graphic design tutorial which was to design a retro toy gun package. Then my friend Neil asked if I could do him a ray gun package, so I did this. That took up a good few hours.

More and more people that I know are claiming to have had the virus or showing symptoms. Even my boss thinks she had it last week. We lost comedian Eddie Large and Lord Bath to the virus this week and Boris Johnson is currently in ICU having taken a turn for the worse yesterday. They keep telling us that it's a precaution and he's not on a ventilator but he's been showing symptoms for 11 days now and it doesn't sound good at all.

My friend in America lost her father to the virus after he went in for some straight forward surgery for something totally unrelated. Another friend in Wales has lost her mother. It literally seems to be everywhere at the moment and a renowned heart surgeon from Cardiff died this weekend. I haven't looked or listened to the stats for a few days as it's just too horrifying but I want to record it so here goes.

So this is the headline I just read: UK's official death toll leaps by record 786 in 24 hours - plus 68 extra victims reported around the country: Total deaths 6,159 with latest victims including a 'healthy' 23-year-old with 'no underlying conditions' as Boris battles the virus in ICU.
